Title explained!

Oh Hi! I’m Hema Bhaskar. Ages ago, my ancestors migrated from Andhra Pradesh or Telangana ( I don’t know :P) to Tamil Nadu. So my mother tongue happens to be Telugu technically. But I was born, experienced surges in various hormones, learnt to deal with them all* in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. I was raised in an all girls Malayali Christian convent school where knowing Malayalam meant surviving school better. School and The Hindu newspaper made me pretty comfortable in English that I spoke of Taboo subjects and life in general ( Wink!) with relative ease. My father works under the central government and transfer meant struggling to communicate in another state. So here comes Hindi into my life and I end up learning it for 11 long years that I perfectly understand Mahabharat and Siya ke Ram (They are Hindi mythological soaps lol) but struggle to converse with the rickshawalla bhaiyya. Wait, that’s not it. My close relations including my father are from Karnataka. So Kannadigas reading this, I gotta have a chance with you as well. Hey listen, I have good news. I learnt French for 2 years. Yeah and I cringe at French statuses and bios. Come on guys, let us start recognizing the potential and beauty of indigenous languages and give them a well deserved bear hug. Though I’m exposed to 6+ languages, it happens that I think in Tamil most of the time. The movie Velai Illa Pattadhari** made me take notice of the voice of my mind and it’s language :D. It’s amazing how the place we grow up influences and nurtures us, builds our personality and seeps inside us to become a part of us. Matter of factly, Tamil language, culture, heritage and values have all contributed to my sense of self. I believe every action has its origin in the mind. Hence thoughts are of utmost importance to me. I think. You think. I think out aloud here.
